Creped papers are used in the food industry as an absorbant layer. Thanks to it’s ridged surface the paper is able to hold a large amount of water. Becasue of this it is also used as a sprouting paper in agriculture and the seed industry. Thinner creped papers are the base papers for coffee filters or tea filters as well as papernapkins and paper wet wipes. Medium-weight creped papers are used as baking paper or as a cushion material in the packaging industry. The paper is heat-proof so it can be used as the baking paper for dough or frozen dough. As the paper has a porous surface, when it is used as a baking liner for frozen dough, it allows for the evaporated water to circulate in the oven and therefore it stops the bottom of the baked goods to become soggy and wet. High-weight versions are used as absorbant layers or cushions under meats. In the hygiene sector they are used as absorbant female hygiene pads.
